Sister Motion partnered with Surfing England to organise and document an event celebrating the female surfing community of North Devon. The hugely successful project was endorsed by This Girl Can and covered by BBC News on both TV and radio.
As a creative project, it allowed Sister Motion the opportunity to mentor two new creatives to start filling the gender gap that exists in our industry. Lou, age 30, and Vicky, age 53, were both accomplished photographers, but Lou had never filmed in water until two months prior and Vicky had never shot video before. Ever.
Both Lou and Vicky delivered incredible footage in highly challenging conditions, illustrating what women can achieve when they are given opportunity and stewardship.
Sister Motion founder Nicky Woodhouse says, “I set up Sister Motion to celebrate and amplify the achievements of women who are doing cool things in male-dominated spaces. This project delivered on every level and illustrates the magic spirit of the surfing community.”
