Director Nicky Woodhouse founded Sister Motion with support from designer Laura Gaunt and writer Shannon Denny. All three women are surfers who left London to live near the beaches of North Devon. They are all members of Saunton Surf Sisters, a community surf club that aims to make women feel more confident in the water.
Nicky says, “I wanted to make a film that captured the atmosphere and talent of the club that has made such a positive difference to the experience of paddling out. People are more open to conversation, and it’s reassuring on bigger days to have familiar faces to encourage you to take that drop.”
"Saunton Surf Sisters thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working with Sister Motion on this project. The club exists to create a safe space for women in the male-dominated lineup, and it was great to be surrounded by an all-women crew who really understood our mission and values. We are so thrilled with the film and are looking forward to many more projects together."Ella Louise Sullivan, Founder, Saunton Surf Sisters
